Blast from the Past: Old OSN Designs

05/13/12

Here’s a TON of screenshots and such of some past designs (remember when I used to “skin” lol!) OSN has had over the past 10 1/2 years! I wonder how many of you remember some of these?! This literally is just a handful, I have hundreds more but these were the ones I found that I didn’t need to re-code to see the full design.

Here they are in no particular order or size!

Osn is 10 Years Old!

11/02/11

Today OSN is TEN YEARS OLD!

In the world of domains/blogging that’s damn near close to a BILLION years old!

So tell me, how long have YOU been blogging? All at the same URL? I want details!

OSN Posts You May Have Missed This Month

07/30/11

How was the month of July for you?

We had a ton of rain and flooding in the area (not our house though, thankfully!) and my uber best friend for life is moving to Florida tomorrow. I’m happy we got to spend a touch of time, got pedicures, got some new tattoo’s together… final Illinois memories together!

The Posts of Awesomeness

Bright and AWESOME
We celebrated the 4th of July at home with sparklers and fireworks! My oldest son and I had a blast doing crazy shapes and letters with the sparklers using a long exposure and my fabulous tripod.

Tree:1 — Backyard: 0
During one of the storms, our neighbor’s tree broke off (not the first time but indeed, the largest part of the tree) into our yard. To date they’ve ignored it. My husband contacted the village who said we have to take care of it since they won’t. So my husband is going to break it down Sunday most likely.

Working on Getting Healthier
I’ve talked about my weight here at OSN on and off over the years. I’ve done and redone Weight Watchers more than I care to admit and I have FINALLY figured out what works for me.

My Fitness Pal is basically a calorie counting site but just overall, calories is a HECK of a lot easier than figuring out Weight Watchers Points. By clicking that link it’ll take you to my profile and you can see what I eat on a day to day basis.

Above Us Only Sky
A post for Wordless Wednesday. I think over the years MOST of my photos tend to be sky focused. Something about it just remains mystical for me.

Already Freaking Out About School
I live each day in “what if” panic. When is the school going to send us the rest of the paperwork? When will they contact us about a meeting to discuss his transition / catching up? We still have to pay the $80 registration fee. When is the best time to buy all the school clothes (due to their strict dress code policy)? How are we going to afford all this? How the heck am I going to manage all this as a one car household without making everyone late?

Disappear Socially (Online Anyway)
I’m feeling a bit lonely (online) and feel like every FB status, tweet, and so on are just going out to the void. Or that if someone does respond, I end up feeling stupid. That I’m not coming across the way I intended. That the person is shaking their head, sighing, and thinking I’m an idiot. Or a bitch. Or both. I always struggle if I should “keep going” with social media and blogging, more so lately.

I Don’t Comment Because I’m Scared
For me, I feel like I’m going to say the wrong thing, babble, or have the comment be ignored. That my comment will be taken the wrong way or sometimes, I feel as though the blogger will not care if I comment or not. So how do I try to combat this? I comment MORE OFTEN!

So Pink
Another Wordless Wednesday post! This time featuring some pink roses.

blog-wp WordPress and Design Tidbits
I’ve had a few comments lately asking how to make a WordPress blog mobile and how I do my fancy comments form, so I’m sharing my tips and tricks!

Tasty
Last Wordless Wednesday post of the month. Featuring what I typically get at one of our local farmer’s markets!

Recipe: Banana Strawberry Popsicles
This is SO easy, delicious, and healthy! Everyone loved them (especially my husband)! This recipe makes four servings of a pretty good sized Popsicle!

OSN Posts You May Have Missed

07/16/11

How did your week go? Full of sunshine and goodness? Or was it more crappy than good?

The Posts of Awesomeness

Tree:1 — Backyard:0
To date, the tree is STILL in the backyard. We’ve called the village to get them to deal with it. It’s driving me utterly crazy. Hearing a tree break and fall has to be one of the worst sounds (nature based, not animal based) I’ve ever heard. We were really lucky that it didn’t break through our window or collapse on the roof. However, our backyard is completely unusable and the boys aren’t able to go outside and play. I’m hoping this will get removed and taken care of within the next few days!

Above Us Only Sky
My post for Wordless Wednesday. I actually used the kit lens that came with my D90 for this (because I couldn’t find my wide angle at the time), and I feel overall, the lens isn’t as bad as I originally expected for a “kit” lens! Granted I still can’t find a purpose for it to be in my regular rotatation.

Already Freaking Out About School
I’m busy freaking out about my oldest going into 4th grade next month. From public schooling to homeschooling then unschooling BACK to public schooling. He’s totally calm. I’m freaking out.

Disappear Socially (online anyway)
A decade in and I’m still barely on the bloggy totem pole. Oh and yes numbers mean A LOT TO ME and there is nothing wrong with that. So when I get maybe 50  –  150 visits a day if I plead and beg, it gets a bit old. Some people are MEANT for this bloggy lifestyle, I’m starting to think I’m not.

What have YOU blogged this week?

Minor OSN Changes

08/26/09

water drops on flower

I’ve tweaked the design a bit, 3 column now. I’ve added a section where you can submit a link, could be to your new blog entry, an interesting resource you found, etc.

Also per this entry, I’ve started a new message board called Nocturnal. Would be awesome if you stopped by!

I’ve updated the links page as well with some fabulous reads.

I suggest you check out the new design over at Lisa’s Thoughts and my new read, Daddy’s Home Now.

Redesign: Watercolor

08/18/09

lotsofpetals Well as you can see here (if you regularly visit) I have yet again, done a complete redesign of OSN (if reading via RSS please check it out!), I’ve sort of called this design “Watercolor” for what I hope, are obvious reasons.

I mainly wanted something a bit less boxy in appearance with brighter coloring. I’ve also changed/moved/added some things as well!

I recently registered with Google Voice and got my number which is (520) 344‑0537. I chose a Tucson area code for nostalgia purposes really, who cares if I live in Illinois now! So you can use that number to contact me if you so choose.

For kicks I got my boyfriend to join twitter, you can follow him @banditrun1, eventually I want to get him into blogging too, but as it is, he’s unsure of what to do with twitter.

If you notice any issues please let me know, via the comments or all the other ways to get ahold of me.

A list of changes with this redesign:

  • new photo page that displays all of my flickr photos (thumbnails) in order from most to least recent
  • recent comments area on the sidebar, currently displaying three
  • changed the twitter display to show one tweet only, also added a permalink to the tweet itself
  • on all entries added a TweetMeme button so y’all can retweet the entry URL, only wish the coloring was customizable
  • on the snippet entries, changed the location of the comment link, it’s now beside the title
  • in the header, displaying the amount of twitter followers and RSS subscribers
  • added a 1px dotted border around the avatars on the comments page
  • slightly updated the about page with personal details and a contact form
  • added more links

Onto other things, I am only 5 1/2 weeks away from my due date. It’s so weird to think about really. I’m curious if he will be early, on time, or late. My twin sister was just shy of a week late with her daughter and my oldest was born via c-section due to being a footling transverse breech. I’m trying to stay positive that my VBAC will be successful! We’ve decided to name this little one Tristan Skye Vincent. Part of me feels weird that at this current time, I won’t be sharing a last name with either of my sons (the plural still freaks me out!). I wish that my oldest didn’t have the last name that he does via his biological father. Hopefully I can fix that soon!

We are so very excited, this year we will be homeschooling my oldest son for the 2nd grade. Due to the awful experiences with public school (since day one of kindergarten actually), combined with my son’s learning style, we’ve found this to be the best choice. As it is, he seems happier, more eager to learn, and actually wants to write now! We are leaning towards doing a slightly structured approach, I did look into unschooling, but it didn’t fit what we are wanting to do. I would appreciate any support, suggestions, website links, blogs, etc!

Well I suppose that’s it for now, hopefully this will help me curb my redesign OSN constantly urge! One can only hope right?

Random Words Put Together

07/14/09

daisy

I’ve reworked the previous design, yet again. Thoughts? It’s a work in progress as I would like to vamp up certain areas. The comment link is now at the bottom of the entry as well as a new “tweet this” link if you want people to know what you’re currently reading. Updated the info/about page!

We finally purchased the baby’s infant car seat and bathtub last night (we have wee tiny sinks). Just need to get clothing and diapers at this point I believe. We still have no names or possible names. I really want a more “nature” sounding boy’s name this time around.

If I have enough mental energy, I am going to backup/format my laptop later. Maybe install Windows 7 (thanks to Jenn for her review on the new OS!). It appears to be raining, which would explain the sudden migraine I got last night.

I think I just want salad for dinner, any suggestions for toppings/dressings?
