Birchbox April 2012

April 12th 2012 / 2 minutes to read

If you love getting to try new products out (especially cosmetic products) then I suggest jumping on the Birchbox bandwagon! I’ve been getting the boxes for a few months now ($10 a month) and have found a few products I really enjoy (and have become purse staples).

I thought I would just do a quick post on what I got for this month’s box and by all means if you’re interested go and sign up! I would love it if you did it via my affiliate link: Birchbox Affiliate because I can then earn points. I’m all about reward systems!

The products are (in no particular order):

  • Zoya True Spring Collection nail polish – Farrah
  • Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Petite Cologne Absolue
  • Yes To Blueberries Brightening Facial Towelettes
  • Weleda Pomegranate Firming Night Cream
  • The Leakey Collection Omega Rich Pure Marula Oil

Overall I am fairly pleased with the box this month except, yet again, MORE FRAGRANCE SAMPLES! I think this is one of the biggest failings with Birchbox (I see complaints about this very issue a lot) is that it feels like they “spam” the subscribers with fragrances! Maybe I’m just super picky.

I am super thrilled over the mini Zoya polish, not only do I LOVE my massive amounts of nail polish but I love Zoya as a brand in itself AND I actually don’t own a lot of nude shades so this is perfect!

I am also excited about the facial towelettes because I LOVE them for when I am just too exhausted to full on wash / exfoliate / serum / more serum / moisturize / eye cream before bed, before this arrived, I have three other brands scattered on my vanity.

Cons for me this month? For sure the fragrance sample, the Marula oil (I already have argan oil AND maracuja oil, I don’t need a third “miracle” oil!), and the firming night cream (I am intensely super picky about my face care routine).

Will I continue to be a subscriber? Yes! I think the boxes I’ve received this year have vastly improved to what I got last year and I am already excited about next month’s box.

For those of you who are also Birchbox members, what did you get in your box this month?

This post is over a year old which means the content may be outdated or no longer accurate.

I signed up! Have been meaning to anyway :) It said there was a waiting list though.

Yay for signing up! Boo for a waiting list!

I am super tempted to get the Birchbox for Men Box but I wonder why it’s $10 MORE a month than the Women’s box.

I was really excited to see another Zoya polish — I love their polishes so much! I got a purplish hue that is so pretty… I was actually not wearing polish yesterday — very rare for me! — so I pretty much painted them immediately. Birchbox is so much fun.

I am a huge Zoya fan as well!

This is only my second box so I am really digging the frangrances. This month I got Willa on the go face towelettes, a Zoya polish in a cool sea green color, JR Watkins Hand and Cuticle Salve (LOVE IT!), Taylor Swift’s new fragrance and…laundry detergent. I’m loving everything so far but I’m sort of baffled by the laundry detergent. It just seemed…odd.

LOL the laundry detergent is very odd, I get they are trying to do lifestyle bonuses with some of the boxes but that? Doesn’t make any sense!

That seems like a really cool thing to sign up for. The $10 a month price tag is pretty sweet as well. I’m a nail polish collector myself, I can’t seem to get enough of it. I own more nude and pink tones than any person really should. My nails are more like makeup to me, if they aren’t done I feel naked heh.

I hope you enjoy the May box as well. I’ll look into them, and definitely go through your referral if I sign up.

If you like nail polish, have you seen my Julep posts?

The only thing we got the same is the Marula face oil. I recieved Box 14 and it looks like you recieved Box 5. If you want to check out everything I got I just posted my box contents on my blog :)

It looks like you got a decent box as well! Especially the Tarte gloss!

I really need to jump on the Birchbox train! I forgot to cancel my My Glam account and received another shipment. They sent me false lashes. I had to laugh at that one. My real lashes are so much nicer and longer than the fake ones they sent. lol

I’ll be sure to use your link when I’m ready to join!

LOL so humble, love it! Yeah I think MyGlam just… was really disappointing overall. I had SUCH high hopes for them too!

I didn’t mean for that to sound conceited. lol I just thought it was a crazy thing to include in my bag. My kids and I had a blast trying it on each other and my son even sported it as a faux goatee. lol

LOL I was just joking! Your eyebrows and eyelashes are perfection! OMG please tell me you took photos of the eyelash goatee!

I was so excited after waiting to finally get my invite and then my first box. But I was really disappointed. It didn’t have anything good like the one shown. It had some samples in like individual form of some exfoliator ( not a good brand that I can’t even remember), some like tape for clothing ( like 2 sided tape), the card of Stila 3 shadows that I’ve gotten before from Sephora for free, & some other things equally as underwhelming. I’m really disappointed. I don’t understand why it has nothing like in any of the pictures. I’m ready to cancel but will give it one more try. Sheesh.

I’ve found it can take a few months and trying different things in your profile to find the “perfect” or close anyway, box. I think I changed my profile questions five times before finally getting the boxes I really enjoyed!

I’m so jealous! Especially of those towelettes! The Birchbox is such a cool idea, I really need to sign up!
