I feel cursed.

If I ignore all the things that have randomly broken in the house, which is now around fifteen items ranging from the living room TV to my body pillow cover. If I ignore the bad news from my health insurance, my actual health, annoying issues with a now former potential optometrist, and the stress of changing healthcare in two months, this month has still been all sorts of fucked up and stressful.

I was rear-ended this month, and then this past Sunday night, while at a Target 23+ miles from home with my oldest son, at 8:30 pm, my car lost it. Thankfully I was parked, but the doors locked and unlocked repeatedly, all lights flashing, glove box opening. It was like it was possessed! I called my husband, who is out of state for work, and he called his friend, who came out and tried to help me. The battery was not just dead, but there was a lot of corrosion. His friend wasn’t able to jump the battery due to voltage issues. He ended up leaving, and I called a tow using the roadside assistance that I had with my insurance.

While waiting for the tow, I called my twin sister’s ex, who lived in the area, and asked him to take my son home, as it had been hours of 20-degree weather, and I didn’t know how the tow situation would go. It was so cold that I couldn’t stop shaking. Even hours later, I was still really cold, and the cold air irritated my lungs, which had scarring due to years of bronchitis and pneumonia.

So the tow came out. The guy was nice and, using his battery jump pack, got my car started. I was so relieved because I thought it would have to be towed home, which would have cost over $100. Finally got home a few minutes before midnight.

My husband said he would deal with it when he comes home at the end of the week, but I am stressed because I don’t know how to pay for a new battery, which for my car, averages to be around $200, and I don’t know how to afford it out of the somewhat “allowance” I am given for the household.

I’m currently, and sparingly, driving his car that we have, but it doesn’t run great anymore and isn’t the cleanest. It’s something, though!

Hopefully, the battery situation going forward won’t be an issue, but… I doubt it. Things of this nature always are a “problem.”

I appreciate that! The battery is finally replaced last night, and thankfully everything is working as it should.
