Christmas Ponderings

Ah I feel like I am finally coming up for air! In the past 30 days… heck, the past two and a half WEEKS, we’ve dealt with the norovirus, colds, and I got MARRIED!

With everyone finally feeling better I’ve been running around like crazy trying to prepare for Christmas. The tree is up and decorated, the mantle is also decorated, simply yet pretty. The tree on the other hand is crazy and full of color. Daniel LOVED decorating it although I realized we need to buy shatterproof ornaments as we had a lot of casualties! I wonder if after the holidays if Christmas decorations and such go on sale?

I’ve also been doing a lot of baking! I have in the fridge right now, dough for Maple Sugar Cookies and I baked two batches of Chocolate Gingerbread Brownies. It’s funny in a way, how much I love to bake considering I rarely if ever EAT what I bake. I know my husband gets a kick out of my baking urges. I always make sure my family has something homemade for dessert and snacks, plus Keith brings his lunches to work (which either I make for him or it’s leftovers) and I want him to have a really awesome ending to his meal. I know. Very housewife like.

I will be mailing out my holiday cards by the end of the week and so far I am excited to be EXCHANGING cards with EIGHT people! I know that seems like a small amount but I LOVE real mail and I always take great care to write something thoughtful in my cards! It drives me INSANE when people mail cards and just sign their names to them. What’s the point in keeping a card like that? I also hope to mail out some goodies as well, just depends on when I can find the energy to deal with this frigid and snowy weather to buy what I need!

I’ve also bought all of Tristan’s and Daniel’s Christmas gifts, however there may be one or two more items I would like to to get for Danny as he is such an awesome big brother and helps SO MUCH that he deserves a few extra goodies. All in all though, we did NOT go crazy for gifts. I did make sure to get the main gift that he has been talking about for months though.

So tell me, how is December going for you so far? What’s going on for Christmas?

That’s great! I would love to get started on learning how to bake… maybe sometime soon. :)There’s nothing more special than giving your baked goodies for christmas. ♥

I think baking/cooking is VERY easy, however baking can be frustrating for me because I don’t LIKE cookies/candies/brownies and such lol so I have to rely on my husband and kids to tell me if I suck or not LOL!

OH yes, I am totally hoping some baked goodies brighten up the holidays for some of the people I’m sending them to!

I am so in awe of people who bake or who can whip up something really good in the kitchen. ♥ Why don’t you like cookies?

I can’t STAND chocolate or really sweet things and overall since I’m working on losing weight, butter rich cookies aren’t the best for that LOL

I’m so jealous of your baking awesomeness. I just can’t bring myself to enter my kitchen unless 1000% necessary. I’m trying to tell myself not to feel bad about that because, uh, hello, I’m in school, but still. I’m NOT awesome wife. I’m crappy wife.

I did put up a gorgeous Christmas tree though, and do a couple of simple crafts with the kids (out of sheer boredom.) I’m also trying to work on a scrapbook for the new baby, and Thursday is the last day of school so I’ll have more time for that then.

Other than that, just being pregnant!

OH I love to cook and bake! It’s relaxing for me! I just get frustrated that I can’t do MORE baking, especially this time of year because I can only bake SO MUCH for my family before something ends up being wasted.

Still, you do more than I do LOL. I only manage to make dinner every night and keep the kids fed/decently happy. Seriously, the laundry is the stuff of nightmares. Three baskets that still aren’t put away and three baskets that still need to be washed!

I suck at doing crafts. My desire is there but it’s hard to find something that both an almost 9 year old AND a 1 yr old can do together. I think once Tristan is a bit older, it will be easier, but right now I am really feeling that age gap.

YAY FOR PREGNANT! It goes so fast sometimes, doesn’t it!

You’re a wonderful cook and you can bake? Argh! Not fair! I love to bake, and if I had the time [and money] I’d do it every day! Your goodies sound amazing! Also, judging from the tone of this post it sounds like you’re moving, emotionally/spiritually/internally, to a more balanced peaceful place… something you’ve mentioned struggling with in other posts. Life is never perfect, but hopefully you’re happy!

My December hasn’t been anything near as busy or exciting as yours. Same-old-same-old.

I find baking to be super cheap actually, with the exception of butter really, flour/sugar/eggs can be really affordable with sales!

I’m FEELING better, it’s a slow road though. I’m reminded almost daily of my “place” when it comes to my parents/siblings and I’m struggling to get out of it.

LOL I can only hope January is a bit calmer! My oldest will be NINE in January! AHHH where does the time go!?

Sarah – you know, I think the men in your life are the most lucky guys in the world!

If for some strange guy reason they don’t say “thanks” out loud — I will! But I’m sure their hearts are melting with your care and love!

hugs,

Aww thank you!! They actually fall over their feet to be grateful for my cooking/baking LOL. I think so that I’ll keep doing it!
