My Health Tanked Again

I am so incredibly frustrated. I try so hard to do everything I can on my end to improve my barely functioning immune system, to fix and support my hormones, to weigh and measure everything I eat, and it feels like no matter what I do, nothing helps.

I saw my doctor last in mid-February. We had improvements across the board for the first time in over a year. It was so exciting! I got my blood work done. And everything has tanked. Big time.

I understand part of it could be due to the stress of losing my mother. However, these issues have been happening for years and years before that, and I fully believe (as do a lot of the doctors I’ve seen) that the stress of my toxic marriage and living situation are contributing heavily to my health issues.

It’s hard because sometimes I do improve, and I get cautiously excited, then something happens… like my spouse reducing my household allowance again (he reduced it another $200 because I refused his offering of Starburst candy), or my body is in flight or fight mode after being yelled at.

We won’t even get into my absolutely awful sleep. Nothing helps there.

Here are the latest numbers and the numbers for the two months prior for my thyroid. Since I’m on a separate T3 medication that artificially reduces the TSH hormone, I don’t include that number as it’s not accurate. TSH is not an accurate measurement of thyroid hormones anyway.

December 2022

  • Free T4 – 0.8
    Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 2.4
    Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

February 2023

  • Free T4 – 0.8
    Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 3.1
    Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

April 2023

  • Free T4 – 0.7
    Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 2.9
    Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

I’ve never had my Free T4 so low before. Last summer, it started with a 1!

Also, I am again testing positive for autoimmune. So was February’s negative a fluke? Or was it tied to the mountain of antibiotics I had to take due to the severe ear infection? Or is it not autoimmune but a false positive just showing massive inflammation in my body due to an illness or infection we have yet to discover?

So I had my appointment today, and we are going back to my original Tirosint (T4 medication) dosage while keeping my T3 medication dosage the same. I also need to get some blood cultures done. Not sure if my primary will do them or if I need to find another specialist. And as always, my high-stress level and cortisol levels are really fucking me up.
