We are having a weird little heatwave here in the Chicago ‘burbs. Typically it’s in the 50s or low 60s this time of year but this week we’ve been in the low 80s! So my sons and I have taken advantage of the weather to open as many windows as possible and work on the yard and garden.

I am months behind on the garden, in part due to losing my mother, and in part due to having to work around the restrictions in my living situation. That said, my sons and I have done a ton so far. A lot of seeds were planted, and a new lilac start that my sister gifted me is now planted.

I also got my two new GreenStalks set up, and I am already obsessed. I am seriously considering buying more next time they have a good sale. One will be a strawberry tower, and the second will be my herb tower. I usually grow my herbs in grow bags, which will free up a ridiculous amount of real estate so I can plant more produce in those bags and have the herbs easily contained.

All of the spring bulbs my mother gifted me over the years are coming up and starting to bloom. It’s very bittersweet.

I’ve been debating on making some cold brew. I typically stick with espresso-based drinks. Nespresso pods, my favorite is the Iced Leggero, and whole beans. That said, I like cold brew and it looks straightforward. So is there a cold brew pitcher that is somehow better than the rest? Or are they all the same? These are the cold brewers I was considering.

What a wonderful gift from your mother! Though bittersweet, I know they’ll bring you so much joy.

Thank you! I know you understand what I’m going through.
