Thanksgiving Weekend From Hell

I can say without a doubt that this has been the WORST Thanksgiving we’ve ever experienced.

We got the Norovirus.

The only one that seems to have been spared is my oldest son, Daniel. Yep. Sir nummies got it Sunday and vomited all morning. Thankfully after a LOT of nursing, the magical breastmilk seems to have done its job and he was back to his happy self by late afternoon. I wish I could say the same for myself.

It seems to have lasted longer with me and even as I type this I am miserable and in pain. I’ve suffered from two migraines and a third will probably hit soon because it looks like it’ll rain.

I am trying to have high hopes that the rest of this week improves.

Not Over Yet
As of now, Tuesday SUPER EARLY MORNING. My oldest son Daniel has started vomiting. I had hoped one of the boys would be spared but sadly, everyone in my household is having to deal with this evil illness. I got him cleaned up, on the couch, vomit bowl and gingerale in hand, and cartoons on the TV.

Keep Danny in your thoughts please!

Oh no! You’re still feeling pukey? :( Sorry to hear that. I hope you’re up and feeling 100% soon!

I normally ALWAYS feel a bit nauseated, ever since I got mono the first time, but to see Keith heal in about 48 hours, the baby in less than 24 hours… and here I am on Day 3 and still feeling awful… ugh.

The only plus side is both kids are asleep right now lol

Make sure you keep your fluids up love, esp. with you BFing at the same time. Hot chocolate tastes the same coming back up as it does going down if you’re struggling (my #1 tip with morning sickness, too!) heh

Fluids have been hard to do, Keith bought me grapes last night and that’s helped somewhat.

I suffer from severe hyperemesis with my pregnancies so this was like some crazy flashback lol.

That SUCKS! I’m sorry!

Yes, lemon vitamin water also tastes the same going down as coming back up, which is why I hear that it’s the preferred drink of moms with morning sickness.

Stay in bed, hydrate, and all that jazz.

I’ve not really gotten out of bed since Saturday morning heh.

Oh geez, see I suffer from severe hyperemesis with my pregnancies and since this started I’ve been having CRAZY pregnancy dreams. I joked with Keith that if I wasn’t also on AF (yes, got AF during all of this too), I would be FREAKING out.

Danny has been a HUGE help too, playing with his baby brother so I can lay on the couch/in bed and try to exist heh.

Ugh that sucks! I hope you feel better soon… I have been battling some kind of nasty cold/respiratory issue… which made Thanksgiving suck too. I couldn’t breathe or take anything… oh or taste the food.

I hope everyone is 100% soon!

Oh geez, seems like everyone is getting sick! I am hoping Christmas is sick-free lol.

Oh for real, I freaking cried that it seems like every holiday, every birthday, ends up miserable heh.

I am FINALLY feeling better today thankfully!

I hope you feel better soon! One year I had food poisoning at Christmas and spent Christmas day in the emergency room getting re-hydrated since I couldn’t stop vomiting. It took over a week for me to get my strength back. I was a miserable experience, so you definitely have my sympathies! Your virus totally puts my current cold into perspective.

It’s probably going to take you longer to recover since you’re breastfeeding; your body can’t devote all its energies to recovery when you’ve got to make milk too.

Maybe try some fruit juice popsicles — that’s a healthy way to rehydrate that might appeal to you.

Hang in there! We’re all sending you good thoughts.

I barely started to feel better this morning when Danny started to vomit.

This is awful.

I’m SO sorry to hear Danny has it too. How awful. I wish there was something we could do for you… :::hugs:::

Holy Freakin Moley!

*running in circles for a bit* ok, ok, everyone else is on the mend, so focus on yourself! Do what you know is best for your system, and let the world tend to itself for a while while you tend to you… and please get better!

My oldest just started to throw up a bit ago so we are not at the end just yet sadly. Ugh.

Ugh, I totally sympathize with lousy Thanksgivings. My sister was always sick on holidays grown up and would make us all sick within days. This year I was the sick one (really sick. hospital sick.) but at least I was being well taken care of and not puking while also cleaning up puke. That sounds way, way worse. Feel better soon!!

posted on November 30th 2010 at 7:39AM CST

Oh wow, I’m glad you’re doing better! What was wrong?

Daniel just started throwing up this morning… I feel like my days are filled with illness at this point.

I am so sorry to hear that :(. I got noro last fall and I’ve never been as sick as I was that weekend. I vomited for hours on end, and with noro, it isn’t just the vomit that kills you, as I’m sure you’re now very aware!

Mine only lasted about 20 hours, but I don’t get migrains so I can’t imagine how you’re feeling right now. Lots of fluids and gravol helped me that weekend :(

I am still super weak and feeling crappy, but… better than I was!

Danny just started throwing up a bit ago… we REALLY thought it skipped him but we were very very very wrong ugh.

Hey Sarah,

Hope you’re all feeling a little better?! Sounds like total crap….or vomit!

Anyway – I love your new winter header and cool color scheme!

Relax and being happy : – )
