Last week I had a ton of blood work done. This week it was time for the results and to visit my primary and thyroid doctors.

Yesterday I saw my primary doctor, just for a quick check-in. Today I saw my thyroid doctor. I see her the most often, to go over blood work mountain.

It’s good news but also confusing at the same time.

The biggest thing, I somehow reversed the autoimmune disease that started in the summer of 2021. Apparently, my huge vitamin regimen and love of vegetables are working for me!

My thyroid improved for the first time since August when my pharmacy changed the manufacturer of my T3 medication.

August 2022

  • Free T4 – 1.0 / Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 3.1 / Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

October 2022

  • Free T4 – 0.8 / Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 2.8 / Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

December 2022

  • Free T4 – 0.8 / Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 2.4 / Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

February 2023

  • Free T4 – 0.8 / Range: 0.8-1.8 ng/dL
  • Free T3 – 3.1 / Range: 2.3-4.2 pg/mL

Now, per usual, I’m worse in other areas, particularly my iron deficiency anemia, so she recommended a different iron supplement for me to take, hopefully, it helps because, ugh, I am at my wits end with it. I’ve increased the red meat that I eat but it’s making zero difference.

Overall, it was a really positive visit. Now, instead of going every six weeks, we are trying every 8 weeks. I’m nervous because the last time we got my thyroid functioning, fall of 2021, we went six whole months, and my thyroid completely tanked. So this time we are doing baby steps to extend the time between visits.

I appreciate that she lets me ramble during our visits because I rarely get to talk to anyone anymore!

So, I will go back in April, hopefully, at that point, I’ll have even more improvements.

I still think it’s the avocado. 😁

Ha! Instead of an apple a day… an avocado a day!
