Life Changes
So Keith and I have mutually agreed we should get married.
It sounds SO much more fancy to say it that way instead of, “I just got engaged”.
I am one of those odd girls that don’t want a wedding, (I don’t understand them). I just want a nice wedding ring. Something shiny.
It will most likely happen soon. For sure before the end of the year. You know, tax breaks and all.
This is very exciting! I promise, I am generally much more romantic in other ways but this… this is hardcore business!
This post is over a year old which means the content may be outdated or no longer accurate.
Oh my goodness, that’s SO exciting!!! Too bad you can’t be your own camera girl. :) Is his job working out?
Thank you! Oh yes, his boss seems to adore him. They came from similar work histories so that helps. I do wish he didn’t work such long hours (12+ hr days), but it is what it is for now!
Congratulations!!
Thank you Rose!
YAY YAY YAY!!! And more Yays for Shineys!!! lol
JoP for the win? :P
LOL JoP FTW yo!
I only have one word:
YAY !!!!!!
(And don’t forget the blue stilettos! ^^)
LOL thank you!
YAYY! I’m so excited for you!! Business or not, it’s still awesome.
Aww thank you so much Sara!
Congrats on the engagement. I am the same as you with weddings. I had a small wedding. 4 people attended. Two witnesses and my two kids. I got married in a small garden one summer afternoon. It cost me less than $1,000 and that included license, clothing, and dinner afterwards, for guests. Best wedding ever. Big weddings are over-rated.
Thank you! I just totally don’t “GET IT”. Both of us have small families/limited friends (once we had DS2, a lot of people dropped us) so we just don’t see a point. With my luck I will have to nurse the baby during the whole thing lol.
Congrats!!!
Thank you!!
Squee! Don’t think of it as a wedding, think of it as a fun party. That’s how I got through mine. Congrats!!!
LOL I love how you put that “how you got through” it LOL!!!
Congratulations! May your shiny ring dreams come true.
Thank you so much Kristin!
That is so, so very exciting! Shiny rings are the best. I wish we’d taken all the money and spent it on a massive rock instead of a party that I had to do all the work for, which nobody even appreciated. Screw the wedding.
Oh yes. I told him I would rather have like… a wedding iPad instead LOL. Priorities!
I’m with you. I never got all misty eyed dreaming up a perfect wedding. I didn’t want one! Why? 1-I have social anxiety (there’s no way I want to be the center of attention). 2-It just felt like a waste of money. We had a nice get together at our house with a family friend as Officiant. Oh, and my mom did the cake (she’s a cake decorator), no frills or flowers. I wore jeans and we had a blast.
YES! I do NOT want to be the center of attention for simply getting married. I MUCH rather can handle attention if it’s for my photography or like… fixing a website LOL.
I am so happy for you. Congratulations and there is nothing wrong with not wanting a wedding. We got married in front of a school bus that sells hamburgers at the park with Lake Champlain behind us. It was perfect and I am sure your day will be too
Aww thank you so much!!
Congratulations to both of you!
Thank you Allyson!
Congrats Sarah! That’s awesome! I had a small wedding too. The things that were important to me were a pretty ring, a bouquet of wild flowers and henna’ed feet which I wore bare for the outdoor ceremony. I know. I’m such a hippie. ;)
Thank you! OHH your ceremony sounds lovely!
Congrats!!! Thats awesome news :)
And thats very like me too, I’m not one for weddings, I will totally elope whenever I get married!
Thank you! Oh totally, I wish Illinois didn’t have a 24hour waiting period. I hate WAITING for anything lol.
Congratulations on the shiney, blessings on all four of you x
Thank you so much Darren!
Congrats Starry!!!!!!!!!!!!! ((HUGS))
Thank you so much!!!
Congratulations Sarah! You’ve got a great guy. :)
Kristi, Live and Love…Out Loud
@TweetingMama
Thank you! I couldn’t agree more!
CONGRATS!!!!
Thank you so much Danielle!!
Congratulations on reaching a mutual beneficial decision. I wish you well in this endeavor :)
I feel the same way. I’m not a fan of weddings and if my boyfriend and I decide to make it more official than our mortgage than all I want is a sparkly ring and a ride to the courthouse. Oh and a fabulous meal.
LOL thank you so much!! OHH yes exactly!
Congratulations, Sarah! I wish you guys all the best.
The important question- changing your name? Hyphenating?
Thank you! I would be changing my last name to his, which is Vincent. Daniel says DAILY he wants Keith to “adopt” him and have his last name changed heh.
So exciting!! Congrats!!!
Thank you Damita!!
How exciting! I hope it works out perfectly for you.
Thank you Erin!!
Happy news! Congratulations to you both and your children.
Congratulations! This sounds exactly like us 9 years ago (wow, I am old). At the time I felt very good about it being the most egalitarian way to decide on a lifetime commitment. Later I kind of wished that we did SOMEthing that we could look on as romantic about it. Even going out to dinner to celebrate, or agreeing to each come up with a fun, free surprise or something to happen within the month… It’s fine to not have a “how s/he asked me” story, but I do now think it would be cool to have a story other than just a list of the reasons it made sense at the time.
How did I miss this for so long? Congratulations! I’m very happy for you!
I would also prefer to just go to city hall and get the paperwork instead of a ceremony. It’s so much more practical. I don’t shun weddings (especially since I’ll likely end up having one because my Jeff wants one) but I don’t think a great wedding is important; a great marriage is what counts.
Again, congratulations, Sarah! That’s wonderful!
